Rotary clubs in Kogi state have commenced a three day free medical outreach for residents of Lokoja.  The outreach, an annual  Rotary International, event kicked on Thursday  24th October and will end on  26th October 2024. The medical outreach is to enable families know their health status. A statement by the State Coordinator, Rotarian Grace Ben Kato, disclosed that the free medical outreach will be intervening in two communities; Angwan Yashi and SUBEB Primary Healthcare Centres respectively.  "The Rotary Family Health and Prevention, with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in collaboration with Rotary clubs in Nigeria, is having its free nationwide Health service tagged Rotary Family Health (RFHDs)", the statement reads. In a bid to sustain the fight against crimes and criminalities in Kogi State, the Kogi State Security Trust fund has presented refurbished vehicles to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), the Nigeria Police, including the the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ). The State Government also presented 15 brand new motorcycles to the Department of State Security Services, (DSS) to wipe out criminal elements in the State. The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has released detailed results of the October 19th local government elections in the state. The Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR), Idris Miliki confirmed this in a press statement signed and made available to newsmen in Lokoja, stressing that the state electoral body has complied with the law. Imo, Bauchi, Osun, Taraba in as Anambra, Adamawa, Ebonyi withdraw  The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, reserved judgment in the suit filed by 19 states challenging the constitutionality of the laws establishing the EFCC and two others to a date to be communicated to the parties. The plaintiffs, in the suit marked: SC/CV/178/2023 had argued that the Supreme Court, in Dr. Joseph Nwobike Vs Federal Republic of Nigeria, had held that it was a UN Convention against corruption that was reduced into the EFCC Establishment Act and that in enacting this law in 2004, the provision of Section 12 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, was not followed.  The argument was that, in bringing a convention into the Nigerian law, the provision of Section 12 must be complied with.  According to them, the provision of the Constitution necessitated the majority of the states' Houses of Assembly agreeing to bringing the convention in before passing the EFCC Act and others, which was alleg...
