SOUTH SOUTH RESIDENTS IN KOGI PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR TINUBU, ODODO OVER INCLUSION, GOOD GOVERNANCE

Residents of South origin living in Kogi State have declared their resolve to "overwhelmingly" vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo in the coming elections, citing recognition, respect and empowerment by the present administration.

The declaration was made on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Southerners Resident in Kogi State, Abu Michael, during a courtesy visit to the Director General of Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Hajia Princess Nana Hawa Yusuf, in Lokoja.

Mr. Abu said the Ododo administration has, for the first time since the creation of Kogi State, given Southerners a true sense of belonging and inclusiveness in governance. 

"We have never been treated like this before. Since the creation of Kogi State, Governor Ododo has made history by giving us recognition. Today, we are not only part of his administration, he has given us that sense of belonging," he stated.

He described the Governor's administration as people-oriented and result-driven, noting that policies such as prompt payment of salaries and pensions, free education, and a strong security architecture were key reasons the South South community has resolved to stand with the Governor beyond 2027.

"We have no option. Ododo and the APC remain our choice. We are resolute in our support," he added. 

The Special Adviser further reiterated the commitment of South South residents in the state to peaceful co-existence with their host communities, and solicited continued media partnership with the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation to promote the programs and policies of both the Southerners and the state government. 

He commended Hajia Yusuf for the giant strides recorded by the station under her leadership, describing her as "a rare administrator with the capacity to deliver."

Responding, the Director General of the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Hajia Princess Nana Hawa Yusuf, described Mr. Abu Micheal as "a partner in progress" who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the state over the last three decades.

She assured that the station remains open to partnership with all groups committed to the socio-economic development of Kogi State, and commended the South community for their peaceful cohabitation with host communities.

"The Radio station is willing to partner with Southerners resident in the state in any aspect that will promote the development of our dear state," she said.

The meeting underscores growing political mobilization among non-indigenous communities in Kogi ahead of the next round of elections.

Nyamkpa Ruling House Denies Emergence of New Etsu Bassa Nge in Kogi

The Nyamkpa Ruling House in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State has dismissed reports circulating in some quarters that a new Etsu Bassa Nge has emerged following the demise of the paramount ruler, General Abu Ali Mopa (Rtd).
