ADC DEREGISTRATION SCARE: “ADC WILL BE ON THE 2027 BALLOT, OUR VICTORY SHALL BE LOUD” — IDRUFEM ASSURES CONSTITUENTS

***House of Representatives Candidate Dismisses Deregistration Threat, Urges Massive Grassroots Mobilisation Ahead of 2027 Polls

Dr. Idris Rufus Oluwafemi (IDRUFEM), the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, has reassured party supporters and constituents that the ADC remains a legally recognized political party and will undoubtedly feature on the ballot in the forthcoming general elections.

Reacting to the recent judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which reportedly ordered the deregistration of the ADC and several other political parties, IDRUFEM described the ruling as a “jankara judgment” that lacks legal foundation and cannot withstand judicial scrutiny.

In a statement made available to newsmen, the frontline politician urged party faithful, supporters, and members of the electorate across Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency to remain calm, focused, and unwavering in their commitment to the ongoing grassroots sensitization campaign aimed at promoting good governance, sustainable development, and genuine representation.

According to him, “The judgment is dead on arrival. ADC shall be on the ballot in 2027, and our victory shall be loud. I call on our people not to be distracted by politically motivated actions designed to create confusion and weaken the resolve of Nigerians who desire positive change.”

IDRUFEM aligned his position with the earlier stance of former Senate President and ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, who maintained that the judgment would be overturned because it failed to satisfy the requirements of due process and constitutional law.

The ADC House of Representatives hopeful further pointed out that the Court of Appeal had previously issued a stay of proceedings in the matter and fixed further hearing for October 27, 2027, making the delivery of such a judgment questionable while a subsisting appellate court order remained in force.

He also argued that the constitutional provisions governing the deregistration of political parties were not satisfied in the case of the ADC. Citing relevant electoral requirements, he noted that a political party can only be deregistered under specific conditions, including failure to secure the constitutionally required electoral performance and failure to win any legislative seat.

“ADC does not fall within that category,” he said. “The party secured victories in the 2023 elections, including two House of Representatives seats in Kogi State, one of which was won in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency. ADC also produced members of the State House of Assembly, thereby clearly meeting the constitutional threshold for continued recognition.”

The politician recalled his active role as Director-General of the campaign that delivered the party’s House of Representatives victory in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu, stressing that the achievements recorded by the party remain verifiable evidence that the ADC is firmly rooted in the democratic process.

IDRUFEM therefore called on party members to intensify voter education, expand community engagement efforts, and sustain the momentum of grassroots mobilisation across the constituency.

He expressed confidence that despite what he described as attempts to undermine the democratic choices of Nigerians, the ADC would emerge stronger and more united ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The people’s mandate cannot be suppressed. The people's victory is assured, and ADC will be on the ballot in 2027,” he declared.

The statement has since generated renewed confidence among party supporters, with many describing it as a strong reaffirmation of the ADC’s readiness to contest and win future elections through lawful democratic processes and sustained grassroots engagement.
