COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP: BUILDING TRUST – KOGI STATE POLICE COMMAND UNVEILS ACTIVITIES FOR NATIONAL POLICE DAY 2026
As the Nigeria Police Force prepares to commemorate the National Police Day 2026, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” the Kogi State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, has lined up a series of impactful activities aimed at strengthening collaboration and fostering mutual trust between the Police and members of the public.
In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, and the national programme, the Command will commence its activities on Monday, 30th March 2026, with a sanitation exercise and medical outreach targeted at improving environmental hygiene and promoting community health.
The Command’s schedule of activities is as follows:
• Monday, 30th March 2026:
Sanitation Exercise at the International Market axis and Medical Outreach at Ganaja Junction Motor Park.
• Tuesday, 31st March 2026:
Walkathon (Fitness & Awareness Campaign) across major routes within Lokoja metropolis to promote public awareness and police-community engagement.
• Wednesday, 1st April 2026:
Town Hall Meeting/Sensitization Programme at the Command Headquarters with the theme: “Dangers of Electoral Violence and the Importance of Safe Driving Practices,” featuring key stakeholders including transport unions, youth groups, and community leaders.
• Thursday, 2nd April 2026:
Presentation of cheques to families of fallen heroes in recognition of their sacrifice and service to the nation.
All the above activities will feature major participation from the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), alongside other stakeholders, further underscoring the Command’s commitment to inclusive policing and community partnership.
The grand finale of the National Police Day celebration will hold on 7th April 2026 at the Eagle Square Parade Ground, Abuja, where the Inspector-General of Police will lead dignitaries and stakeholders in commemorating the occasion.
These programmes underscore the Command’s dedication to deepening community partnership as a vital tool in enhancing security and public trust. The Police and the community remain indispensable partners in progress, and only through sustained collaboration can we effectively address security challenges.
