Comr. Edoka Will Not Change Story: Legacy of Labour, Leadership, Unwavering Commitment, Service

Comr. Onuh Edoka, Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, has lived a life of purpose and dedication. 

His journey, marked by exceptional service and a passion for labour welfare, is a testament to his unrelenting spirit.

Born in June 1968 into a noble Christian and royal family, Edoka's early life was shaped by values of service and leadership.

Edoka's academic pursuits began at Demonstration Primary School, Makurdi, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1982. 

He proceeded to Imane Community Grammar School, obtaining his WASC/GCE in 1987. Driven by an unrelenting passion for knowledge and service, Edoka later pursued his educational career in Health Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, graduating in 2010.

His professional career began as a Public Health Attendant in Olamaboro LGA in 1989. Exceptional work ethics quickly earned him higher responsibilities, serving as an Environmental Health Officer, Disease Surveillance and Notification Officer, and later as Health Information/Data Officer. 

He eventually rose through the ranks to become the Director of Primary Health Care for Olamaboro Local Government from 2016 to 2024.

At the state level, Edoka has contributed immensely, serving in several key capacities, including Member, Kogi State Pension Board (2016–2023); Member, Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (2020–2023); and Member, Kogi State Service Reform Committee (2016–2017).

A respected labour leader, Edoka has held various key positions, including State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kogi State, and National Vice President of MHWUN. 

His leadership has fostered industrial harmony, earning him the title of "labour guru" and "Chairman Emeritus".

Edoka's foray into politics has been marked by significant contributions, including mobilizing labour support for the APC's success. His strategic role in the ODODO/JOEL gubernatorial ticket was instrumental in their victory. 

He currently serves as the Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State on Labour Matters, where he has helped foster industrial harmony, ensuring no industrial strike has been declared in the state since the current administration took office.

A philanthropist at heart, Edoka has transformed lives through acts of kindness and empowerment. He has facilitated employment opportunities, supported education, and sponsored youths into tertiary institutions. 

Recently, he paid examination fees for pupils from Olamaboro LGA to attend the prestigious Gifted School in Suleja.

Honours and awards have recognized his outstanding contributions, including the Award for Healthcare and Community Development by WHAF International and the Meritorious Service Award by MHWUN. 

He holds a traditional title, proudly bearing the revered Chieftaincy title of Onu Ogwu Oda-Ojiji of Imane Kingdom, with the salutation Alaapa.

As he contemplates the Ankpa Federal Constituency seat, Edoka's passion for service and labour welfare remains unwavering. His story is a testament to the power of dedication and commitment to making a difference.

The life and times of Comr. Onuh Edoka, Special Adviser, Labour Matters has been one that can be summed up as eventful in service.

A look at his activities from his rich antecedents since joining the service, his foray in the labour, is one that shows that he will not change in service delivery if elected.

It is not an exaggeration therefore to State that his name represents a constant in service to mankind, with making impact his mainstay and staying power.

From his background, the call for him to join the race for Ankpa Federal Constituency next election is from all intent and purposes not a misplaced priority, as he will no doubt raised the bar, a feat he is already known for.

Infact the discuss in several quarters is that he will even use such opportunity to lift the Labor sector, a passion that runs in his veins and blood.

From the foregoing, the name Edoka represents a man who will not change if giving the opportunity of serve in the House of Representatives, to represent Ankpa Federal Constituency.
