The Kogi State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project is set to launch its Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Scheme on the 28th July, 2025, aimed at supporting adolescent girls in transition classes across the state.

The initiative targets girls in Primary 6, JSS1, JSS3, and SS1, with the goal of boosting enrollment, retention, and seamless progression through the education system. The Flag-Off Ceremony, scheduled to take place in Lokoja, will be attended by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, alongside top government officials, representatives from the Ministry of Education, the World Bank, and other development partners.

A total of 13,359 beneficiaries have been selected to receive ₦40,000 each, comprising: ₦15,000 for school registration support, ₦25,000 for transition support, and additional ₦10,000 termly stipend to promote regular school attendance.

The CCT falls under Component 2, Sub-component 2.3 of the AGILE Project, which is focused on removing financial barriers and empowering adolescent girls through targeted educational support.

According to Alh. Ahmed Tijani Oricha, Kogi AGILE Project Coordinator, “This initiative is not just about financial support, it is a strategic investment in the future of our girls and the long-term development of Kogi State. Every girl deserves the opportunity to stay in school and thrive.”

The Project also lauded the consistent efforts of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, who also serves as the Chairman of the State Steering Committee, as well as implementing partners, media outlets, and the National Project Coordination Unit (NPCU) for their technical support.

As preparations for the launch intensify, the state government is urging parents, guardians, community leaders, and stakeholders to actively support the program and ensure its success.
