His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, former Governor of Kogi State, has expressed grief over the passing of the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, who joined his ancestors on July 13, 2025, at the age of 91.   Governor Bello described the late Awujale as a revered monarch whose remarkable 65-year reign brought enviable progress to Ijebu Ode and the entire Ijebuland.    The former governor also noted that the late Awujale, who introduced and popularised the annual Ojude Oba festival, was an iconic national figure.
