Controversy Rocks Kogi NYCN Chapter Over Award Sales
The Kogi State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) is embroiled in controversy over allegations that its Chairman, Comrade Benjamin Ojodale, has been selling awards to individuals, including prominent figures.
Comrade Omeiza Salami Jatto, a member of the Kogi Patriotic Youths, accused Ojodale of hawking awards, claiming he has sold over 100 awards to individuals, including non-deserving members of the public, for as low as N20,000.
Comrade Jatto in a personally signed statement, argued that the action and practice has denigrated the image and integrity of the Council.
He therefore called on the Council's management to intervene, citing concerns over Ojodale's leadership and alleged conflicts of interest.
The controversy is said to have raised questions about the Council's leadership, accountability, and potential misuse of power.
The statement further alleged that the state chairman has converted the NYCN bus for commercial purposes, using it to ply various routes in the Federal Capital Territory for personal gain. describing the act as "unserious and cluelessness for self-greed.
"The NYCN Kogi State Chapter's management may need to investigate these allegations and take necessary actions to restore public trust and maintain the organization's integrity," he added.
