Otuaro Receives BIU Award In Abuja, Hails Archbishop Benson-Idahosa On 83rd Birthday

The management of the Benson Idahosa University (BIU), Benin City, Edo State, has honoured the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, High Chief Dennis Brutu Otuaro, PhD., with an Award of Excellence.

According to the foremost institution, the award was conveyed in recognition of Chief Otuaro’s “outstanding leadership, exemplary service, unwavering commitment and remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the Niger Delta.”
BIU Vice Chancellor, Professor John Aroye Okhuoya, who was represented by the Deputy Registrar and Head of Educational Services Unit/Admissions Kingsley Osahenrumwen Ekhator, presented the award to Dr. Otuaro during a courtesy visit to the PAP headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday.

Mr. Ekhator was accompanied by the Senior Assistant Registrar, Pretty Ikhuiwurefe and the Assistant Registrar, Adaobi Esimaje, both of the BIU Abuja Liaison Office.

After the awar presentation, the school representatives and Dr. Otuaro engaged on issues of mutual interest and development between BIU and the PAP.

Dr. Otuaro appreciated the award and dedicated the award to the management, staff and stakeholders of the PAP for making a success of the Programme.

As of today, under Otuaro’s leadership, over 10,000 students have benefited from the in-country scholarship scheme in which tuition, accommodation, stipends costs and learning materials are fully provided by the PAP.

Otuaro also restarted the foreign scholarship programme scrapped by previous administrations, now ensuring that beneficiaries study disciplines with visible economic impact in the Niger Delta and Nigeria. 

Furthermore, he has continued to religiously honour PAP ex-agitators’ stipend payment, vocational training programmes, empowerment of qualified youths as well as peace and conflict building with visible results on oil and gas exploration, pipeline security and national revenue generation.

Envisioned in 1978 by the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, the founder of Church of God Mission International (CGMI), BIU is one of the institutions partnering with the PAP on the Programme’s successful scholarship scheme.

The award presentation to Dr. Otuaro in Abuja coincided with the celebration of the 83rd birthday anniversary the same day in Benin of BIU’s Chancellor and spiritual leader of CGMI, Archbishop Margaret Benson-Idahosa, OON, Africa’s first female archbishop.

Speaking after receiving his award, Dr. Otuaro described Archbishop Idahosa as a pillar of faith, service, and commitment whose patriotic leadership and contributions to national development has inspired belief and hope while mentoring and transforming countless lives.

Dr. Otuaro therefore wished Archbishop Benson-Idahosa a happy birthday celebration in sound health, renewed vigour, boundless grace, long life and continuous prosperity.

Nyamkpa Ruling House Denies Emergence of New Etsu Bassa Nge in Kogi

The Nyamkpa Ruling House in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State has dismissed reports circulating in some quarters that a new Etsu Bassa Nge has emerged following the demise of the paramount ruler, General Abu Ali Mopa (Rtd).
