WORK IN PROGRESS, RESULTS IN EVIDENCE: THE STEADY RISE OF HON. OMOLUABI BODE ADEYEMI IN KOGI POLITICS

By Abu Micheal

Hon. Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi is the kind of leader who doesn’t need the spotlight to make his presence felt. From student union politics to the corridors of power in Kogi State, he has steadily built a reputation as a dependable, results-driven figure whose impact resonates with both traditional rulers and ordinary citizens.

Often referred to as OBA, Adeyemi is the Special Adviser on Energy Matters to Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo, a position he has held since May 2024. He also serves as the elected Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers to the Governor, a role that underscores the trust placed in his leadership and coordination abilities.

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, he previously served as Special Adviser on Civil Service and Labour Matters under former Governor Yahaya Bello.

Trained as a seasoned journalist at the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja, and hailing from Kabba/Bunu LGA, Adeyemi is described by associates as a cultivated and intentional leader who leads by example. His rise has been marked not by noise, but by consistency — a quiet force that continues to grow into one you cannot wish away.

Adeyemi cut his teeth in leadership during his days in student unionism, and since stepping into mainstream politics, he has not looked back. A firm believer in system-driven politics, he is known for reliability and dependability — the kind of person you can trust with an assignment and go home to sleep with both eyes closed.

Whether visible on the frontlines or working behind the scenes, he has remained committed to collective success rather than personal acclaim. Authentic in his values, resilient in the face of challenges, and humble despite his achievements, Adeyemi has transitioned from being a manager to becoming an inspirational force for many young Kogites.

In his current role as Special Adviser on Energy Matters, Adeyemi is at the forefront of efforts to reposition Kogi’s power sector for sustainable growth. He is spearheading the legal framework for the establishment of the Kogi Electricity Market and the Kogi Electricity Regulatory Commission — initiatives designed to ensure electricity is available, accessible, and affordable across the state.

His focus goes beyond policy. He has consistently advocated that Kogi’s energy potential must be harnessed for job creation, poverty reduction, and technological advancement. As a bridge between government, investors, and stakeholders, he is working to build a competitive electricity market that can attract long-term investment.

Adeyemi is also active in amplifying the infrastructural strides of the Ododo administration, from investments in education like Kogi State University, Kabba, to rural electrification projects that bring light to underserved communities. On March 6, 2026, he was sworn in as the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Coordinator for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, further aligning his work with the APC-led government’s development agenda.

What stands out about Adeyemi is that he embodies the “Never Say Die” spirit in politics. A grassroots mobilizer and strategic advisor, he has earned commendation for bringing value and expertise to the energy sector while facilitating investments and development.

Yet, for all his progress, those close to him describe him as a work in progress — one who remains open to learning, receptive to feedback, and focused on impact over recognition. It is this humility, combined with a servant-leader approach, that has allowed him to quietly imprint himself in the hearts of kings and ordinary Kogi citizens alike.

In a political space often defined by loud promises, Hon. Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi is carving a different path: one built on integrity, presence, and results. And if his current trajectory is anything to go by, Kogi may well be witnessing the emergence of a future leader in the making.
