Philanthropist Amb. Coach Abinu Donates N500,000 for Agbaja Oworo Palace Construction in Kogi

In a move to support the cultural heritage and enhance the traditional institution in Kogi State, renowned philanthropist and youth sports advocate, Ambassador Coach Gabriel Abinu, has donated the sum of N500,000 towards the construction of a new palace for the Agbaja Oworo traditional ruler in Lokoja Local Government Area.

The donation, which was made in Lokoja, fulfills a promise Abinu had earlier made to support the development of the Agbaja Kingdom, particularly under the current administration of Governor Usman Ododo.

Ambassador Abinu, a rising tennis coach and community development enthusiast, emphasized that his contribution was inspired by a deep commitment to community service and cultural preservation.

“My donation today for the construction of a befitting palace for our revered monarch is aimed at ensuring that our traditional institution in Oworo land remains one of the best in Nigeria,” he said.

He further stressed the role of traditional institutions in fostering peace and unity within communities, saying:

“No doubt, through our traditional institution, our cultural heritage will be preserved and won’t go into extinction. The palace is not just a building; it is a symbol of our history and pride.”

The philanthropist also used the occasion to call on other well-meaning sons and daughters of the land—both within and outside Lokoja Local Government—to emulate the gesture by contributing to the success of the project.

“I am imploring our sons and daughters in Lokoja Local Government and beyond to follow this brave step—financially and otherwise—to support this laudable and historic project for the development of Agbaja Kingdom,” he urged.

Community leaders and traditional chiefs who witnessed the event lauded Ambassador Abinu for his timely intervention, describing him as a "beacon of hope" for the younger generation.

One of the elders, said,
“This donation is not just money; it is a message of love, respect, and responsibility to our roots. Coach Abinu has shown that youth can indeed play vital roles in nation-building.”

The palace project, when completed, is expected to serve as a unifying hub for the people of Agbaja Oworo and a symbol of pride and cultural renaissance in the area.
