NULGE President thanks Gov. Ododo AsKogi Begins Payment of Leave bonuses to LG workers
... Says we are indeed very grateful
The Kogi State President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Comr. Mohammed Sanusi has expressed his deepest appreciation to Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo over the commencement of payment of leave bonuses to workers at the Local Government Areas.
Comr. Sanusi in a statement of appreciation issued to Newsmen, described Gov Ododo as a promise keeper, described Gov. Ododo as a talk and do Governor, said the last time leave bonuses were paid to LG workers was about 12-15 years ago.
"Let me publicly praise the present administration of Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo in the State for making impact in all sectors of the State's economy. I say this with all emphasis that the present administration has made Local Government Administration the cornerstone of it administration".
"We in NULGE will continue to remain committed to the programs and policies of the Gov. Ododo led administration. His repositioning of the Local Government Administration in the State is a product of the Governor's experience, working with the Local Government, before his assumption as Governor".
"Under the leadership of Gov. Ododo let me without mincing words, State that it was the most difficult time for Local Government workers. But today, we are nearing our promised land".
"Thank you for ending percentage salaries, hanging backlog of promotion exercises and several years of hanging promotion arrears owing to downturn in the economy in the past years".
"Through the unwaivering support of His Excellency, the Chief Servant of Kogi State, Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo, our NULGE friendly Governor, we have been able to put behind us the stinking challenges of percentage payment that made our members lose their dignity".
"Today, Local Government workers are not only enjoying full monthly and early payments of salaries like their State Government counterparts, we are equally grateful to His Excellency, Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo that we are enjoying the N72,000 minimum wage".
"Today, history has been made, Gov. Ododo has broken the jinx. The Government has begun the payment of leave bonuses in phases after several years. This feat is unprecedented. This is heartwarming and on behalf of the entire workers across the 21 LGAs of Kogi State, we are resolved, that there is no vacancy in Lugard House come 2027 until 2031".
"Furthermore, it will be a disservice if I fail to express the deepest appreciation of NULGE to His Excellency, for granting us another one year tax waiver for workers in the State, including workers in the Local Government tier of Government. Permit me to say, this is another relief that is enhancing the take home of our members. We are indeed grateful to the Chief Servant".
"It is also on record that the benevolence of His Excellency, has ensured that outstanding backlog of promotion interviews have been conducted with our members now anxiously waiting for the release and cash backing of those promotion exercises".
The President of NULGE equally expressed his appreciation to the State Accountant General, Hajia Habibat Onumoko Tijani for working tirelessly to make workers welfare in the State, particularly Local Government workers earn their deserved dignity".
Similarly, our appreciation goes to the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Comr Onuh Edoka for his input and support to His Excellency, making workers in the State now to enjoy a pride of place in the society.
"We want to also thank the administration of Gov Ododo, who appointed LGSC Chairman, Alhaji Adams Adabenege. Through his support and innovation, we now enjoy the decentralization of promotion of LG workers, a feat that has helped in reducing the challenges of insecurity and the financial burden such promotion exercises usually place on our members in the past. As at today, no promotion interview is hanging for Local Government workers in the State. We are grateful to the Service Commission Chairman for making transactions in the Commission seamless", concluded by wishing Gov. Ododo success in his tenure.
"This unprecedented feat by Gov. Ododo has made NULGE Kogi State to key into the yearning and aspirations of the administration of Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo making NULGE workers to look and clamour for the administration beyond 2027 to 2031'.
As at press time, LG workers in Ogori-magongo LGA in two departments have started getting alerts.
