PDCRC PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO THE ACCOUNTANT GENERAL OF KOGI STATE, DR. HABIBA OYIZA TIJJANI, SEEKS PARTNERSHIP, SUPPORT
The Director General of the Kogi State Office of the Public Defender and Citizens’ Rights Commission (PDCRC), Musa Onogo Idris, Esq. with a team of Law Officers of the Commission recently paid courtesy visit to the Accountant General of Kogi State, Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani.
The Director General in his remarks thanked the AG for receiving the Commission within a short notice.
The DG noted that PDCRC was established to provide legal aid and other related services to the residents of Kogi State, particularly the indigents, less privileged and vulnerable.
He further stated that the Commission is committed to the protection and preservation of the fundamental rights of all residents in the State.
Similarly, it is the responsibility of the Commission to settle dispute by Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mediums and that the Commission receives complaints directly from individuals or by referral from government agencies, public and private institutions.
The Director General also brought to the attention of the Accountant General, the Kogi State Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, 2022, which is domiciled in PDCRC for implementation and enforcement.
He stated that the VAPP Law prohibits all forms of violence against individuals in public and private life; such as forced isolation or separation from family and friends; spousal battery; abandonment of spouse, children and other dependents without sustenance etc.
Musa Onogo Idris, Esq. shared with the Accountant General some of the pressing challenges of the Commission and requested her partnership and support. In her remarks, the Accountant General of Kogi State, Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani, welcomed the DG and Law Officers of the Commission.
She appreciated them for what they do for humanity and pledged her support to the Commission in the discharge of her functions.
The DG appreciated the AG for her support and the action steps taken at ensuring the smooth and efficient discharge of the Commission’s mandate.
The DG presented to the Accountant General a copy of the Kogi State Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, 2022.
