Handball Chairman in Kogi construct new Court in Lokoja

Just as he promised a few months ago that he was going to construct and deliver a brand New Handball Court in Lokoja which will help in the discovery and nurturing of talents and development of the game of handball, the Chairman Kogi State Handball Association Mr Jibril Ojih Saidu (FNIQS) has lived up to his promise by delivering a Standard Handball Court at the popular phase Two housing estate Sport Centre in Lokoja.

The construction of the court which started towards the end of 2024 was completed a few days ago and is now ready for use.

Speaking from his base in Abuja, the Secretary General Commonwealth Handball Association and Handball Federation Of Nigeria presidential hopeful said the desire to give back to the Society through the discovery of talents and the speedy development of the game of handball led him to construct the handball court.

" With the conclusion of the construction of this Standard handball court here in my State, I've fulfilled a lifelong ambition of developing the game of handball in the State starting from the grassroot. "

" I want to use this opportunity to call on Lovers of the game especially the young ones who aspire and desire to play handball to seize the opportunity provided by the provision of the court to improve on the game as plenty of opportunities abound in the game "

"My sincere appreciation goes to the Executive Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Commissioner for Youth and Sport Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe who gave the go ahead for the construction and the immense and unwavering support received so far in the cause of the construction"

Mr Saidu said just as he promised last year that as soon as the court is completed, the court will host a major handball championship to begin the process of returning the glory of the Sport in the Confluence State, plans are underway for the championship to be hosted in Lokoja.


He said Kogi State which is known as the home of handball has continued to produce top handballers in Nigeria, even Men and women of proven integrity in the administration of the game at the top.
