Economic Hardship: Kogi NGOs Network Calls for State-Specific Solution, Proposes 5 Remediation Strategies

In a position paper presented at her 4th annual general meeting in Lokoja on Thursday, KONGONET said the removal of subsidy on premium motor spirit (PMS) and floating of the Naira have drastically affected the economic landscape of Nigeria, evolving into a myriad of factors, such as inflation, unemployment, and inadequate infrastructure. The position paper signed by Amb. Idris Ozovehe Muraina and Reuben Joshua, Chairperson and Secretary respectively, noted that Kogi state, like many others, has felt the brunt of these challenges leading to increased poverty and reduced quality of life for its citizens. Kogi Govt. Presents another batch of refurbished vehicles to Security agencies

The Kogi State Government has presented additional 10 refurbished operational vehicles to Security agencies to fight crimes and criminalities in the State. Presenting the refurbished vehicles to heads of the Nigerian Army, Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, (NSCDC), in Lokoja on Thursday, the Chairman, Kogi State Security Trust Fund Hon. Abdulraheem Ozovehe- Ohiare disclosed that the agency will continue to provide logistics support for security agencies in the State. Miss Nollywood international begins partnership with ICPC to fight corruption, stop sexual harassment in higher institutions

Miss Nollywood International Queen Hassana Ozohu Salisu, in partnership with the ICPC, is taking steps to fight corruption and advocate for the rights of students being abused by lecturers and staff in higher institutions.  This aligns with one of ICPC's primary goals of combating corruption in the education sector. Kogi State Government has threatened to go tough on those engaged in child labour and trafficking of children from the state. The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Child Labour and Trafficking, Halimat Alhassan made this known in Lokoja on Wednesday in a statement. Halima also said the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, where her office is domiciled is in the process of finding permanent, safe and loving families for children in orphanages.
