Kogi Assembly urges Gov. Ododo to urgently renovate Abejukolo Hospital, rebuild communities affected by Omala crisis

The Kogi State House of Assembly has appealed to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to urgently renovate Abejukolo General Hospital and basic healthcare as well as educational facilities in the  communities affected by the crisis in Omala Local Government Area of the State. The lawmakers made the appeal during the House plenary sitting on Thursday in a motion moved by the lawmaker representing Omala State Constituency, Hon Umar Yahaya urging the House to commend Governor Ododo for deploying Joint  Security Personnel's to the crisis areas of Omala and appealing to the government to put in place measures for rebuilding the devastated communities. Prof Salisu made the call while inaugurating the Shamsudeen Sickle Cell Foundation as part of activities to mark his 52nd Birthday anniversary in Lokoja on Sunday. He called for aggressive awareness campaigns, adding that stigmatization of sickle cell carriers is more injurious than the disease itself. Federal Government Approves Kogi's Bid to Build an International Airport in Zariagi

The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has approved the bid by the Kogi State Government to build an International Airport in Zariagi. The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, said the approval was conveyed in a letter by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, dated 9th October, 2024.  He said the administration of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo was committed to the timely completion of the project with strict adherence to regulatory standards, saying an airport in Kogi State would serve 10 other states and reduce traffic on the Lokoja -Abuja road. OIL EXPLORATION: Governor Ododo Seeks Partnership to accelerate investment

Flood: Governor Ododo Drills Boreholes at IDP Camps, Provides Massive Relief Materials

In order to ensure persons and families displaced by flood are not exposed to water-borne diseases, the Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo has begun the drilling of boreholes at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps.  According to the state government, this will also help to ameliorate the hardship the displaced persons go through while in search of water.  The Commissioner for Information in the state, Kingsley Fanwo, who briefed newsmen on Thursday, said Governor Ododo directed the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) to immediately begin the borehole drilling in the  (IDP) camps to ensure sufficient supply of clean water. The Governor gave the directive while on a visit to some of the IDP Camps on Thursday just as he directed the provision of more relief materials to the IDP camps in the state.
